About Ruth McCully
After a rewarding career in occupational health and safety, I found my passion in photography. I have been creating images for more than a decade and focus on abstract, botanical and landscape photography. My focus is on the interplay of light with the subject or scene. I enjoy experimenting with different approaches to capture light.
My images have been selected for exhibition at the SE Center for Photography, PhotoPlace Gallery, SouthXSoutheast Gallery, Georgia Nature Photographer Association Stand in the Footsteps of Ansel Adams exhibit, and the annual Joseph A. Miller Abstract Photography Exhibit.
I am a member of the Society of Bluffton Artists, National Association of Women Artists, Carolina Nature Photographers Association and Georgia Nature Photographers Association.
Artist Statement
My photography is a spiritual journey where I witness and interpret the mystery and majesty of the natural world. As the changing light, colors, hues, textures and scenes unfold before me, I feel alive, joyous, humbled, fulfilled, and free. I seek to create images that convey these emotions. When creating images, I revel in the moment, in the experience, and seek to embrace that which I am presented. In this regard, my images are the treasured souvenirs of the creative photographic journey.
